Nine Days Northern Serengeti Safari

Nine days linking Tarangire, central Serengeti and a northern Serengeti stay, with a proposed flight back to Arusha. Designed for time in the wider ecosystem, not a guarantee of a river crossing.

The suggested journey

Days to remember.

Arusha area · Tarangire area · Serengeti · Northern Serengeti

Original sample itinerary — not a confirmed package. Day order, camps, travel times, flights, activities and prices need verification. Northern herd-focused stays are often considered around July–October, but rainfall and herd movements vary. Outside suitable conditions, discuss a different seasonal camp location.

DAY 01Arrive and unwind in Arusha

Meet your proposed transfer on arrival and settle into an Arusha-area stay. Keep the evening free for rest and a briefing on the route, luggage and the following morning. Airport, transfer and accommodation are confirmed in your final proposal.

Suggested overnight: Arusha area · property to confirm

DAY 02Into Tarangire’s baobab country

Travel towards Tarangire and explore its woodland and river habitats. Look for elephant movement without rushing between sightings. Timing depends on road conditions, park entry and where your camp is located.

Suggested overnight: Tarangire area · lodge or camp to confirm

DAY 03Through the highlands to the Serengeti

Travel through the Ngorongoro highlands towards the Serengeti. Treat this as a transfer day with possible wildlife viewing, not a promised full-day game drive. Stop only where authorised and arrive with time to settle into camp.

Suggested overnight: Serengeti · camp location to confirm

DAY 04A day on the Serengeti plains

Explore grasslands, kopjes and nearby watercourses with your guide. Stay with a sighting long enough to understand the behaviour, then return to camp at a pace that suits you. Resident animals provide interest beyond the moving herds.

Suggested overnight: Serengeti · camp location to confirm

DAY 05Journey towards the northern Serengeti

Move from the central plains towards a northern camp selected for the travel month. This is a substantial transfer, with wildlife stops only where practical and authorised. A light-aircraft alternative may suit some routes but requires a separate schedule, baggage and cost check.

Suggested overnight: Northern Serengeti · camp to confirm

DAY 06Northern plains and river habitats

Explore the northern Serengeti with time to observe herds, resident wildlife and river scenery. A crossing is a possibility, not an appointment; avoid waiting so long for one event that the wider landscape is overlooked. Give animals space and follow your guide’s judgement.

Suggested overnight: Northern Serengeti · camp to confirm

DAY 07Northern plains and river habitats

Explore the northern Serengeti with time to observe herds, resident wildlife and river scenery. A crossing is a possibility, not an appointment; avoid waiting so long for one event that the wider landscape is overlooked. Give animals space and follow your guide’s judgement.

Suggested overnight: Northern Serengeti · camp to confirm

DAY 08Return from the Serengeti to Arusha

A proposed light-aircraft journey returns you to Arusha, followed by a transfer to an overnight stay. Flights may include intermediate stops and have luggage restrictions. Confirm the airstrip, operating schedule and onward arrangements; do not assume Arusha Airport is your international departure airport.

Suggested overnight: Arusha area · property to confirm

DAY 09A final morning and onward travel

Enjoy a relaxed start before your confirmed transfer or flight. The final route depends on camp location and your onward ticket; leave sufficient connection time. Any additional overnight required will be priced separately.

Suggested overnight: No overnight proposed · onward arrangements to confirm

What the quote should cover.

Proposed inclusions

  • Accommodation for the itinerary nights in an agreed room category
  • Safari guiding and vehicle arrangements specified in the final quote
  • Park and conservation entry charges expressly listed in the final quote
  • Meals and transfers only where itemised in the confirmed programme

  • Gratuities, personal purchases and meals not listed
  • Optional activities, domestic flights and special arrangements unless explicitly included

Before you decide.

Are these confirmed packages?

No. These are original sample routes, not an availability promise. The final proposal must identify properties, transport, permitted activities, inclusions, prices and any changes.

Can we change the route or pace?

Yes, the concept can be used as a planning starting point. A change may affect travel times, park fees, flight connections and lodging availability; all arrangements must be rechecked.

Will we see the migration or the Big Five?

No sighting can be guaranteed. Wildlife moves freely, weather influences seasonal patterns and river crossings cannot be scheduled.

How are costs confirmed?

A personalised quote is required. Travel dates, party size, room types, camp locations, flights and current fees all affect the total. No sample price is presented as a verified Serenity rate.
