Eleven Days Tanzania Family Safari
Eleven days balancing wildlife, a highland pause and time to rest. The final pace and properties must suit the ages of your travelling children.
The suggested journey
Days to remember.
Arusha area · Tarangire area · Karatu area · Serengeti · Ngorongoro highlands or Karatu
Original sample itinerary — not a confirmed package. Day order, camps, travel times, flights, activities and prices need verification. School holidays can bring demand. Child policies, vehicle arrangements and activity ages require confirmation before booking.
DAY 01Arrive and unwind in Arusha
Meet your proposed transfer on arrival and settle into an Arusha-area stay. Keep the evening free for rest and a briefing on the route, luggage and the following morning. Airport, transfer and accommodation are confirmed in your final proposal.
Suggested overnight: Arusha area · property to confirm
DAY 02A gentler day near Arusha
Leave room to recover from travel. A locally guided coffee visit or an Arusha National Park outing could be arranged separately, depending on your interests, arrival time and permissions. Return for an unhurried evening.
Suggested overnight: Arusha area · property to confirm
DAY 03Into Tarangire’s baobab country
Travel towards Tarangire and explore its woodland and river habitats. Look for elephant movement without rushing between sightings. Timing depends on road conditions, park entry and where your camp is located.
Suggested overnight: Tarangire area · lodge or camp to confirm
DAY 04A full day following elephant trails
Use a second day to explore different sections of Tarangire. An early drive can be balanced with a quieter midday break. Seasonal wetlands and river corridors offer changing opportunities for mammals and birdlife.
Suggested overnight: Tarangire area · lodge or camp to confirm
DAY 05Forest and escarpment at Lake Manyara
Visit Lake Manyara’s forest and lake-edge habitats if current access allows. Keep expectations flexible: lake levels, bird concentrations and animal sightings vary. Continue towards the cooler Karatu highlands.
Suggested overnight: Karatu area · property to confirm
DAY 06A pause in the highlands
Enjoy a slower morning around Karatu. A hosted local visit, a short permitted walk or simply time in the garden can break up the driving days. Activities are optional and require host consent and confirmation.
Suggested overnight: Karatu area · property to confirm
DAY 07Through the highlands to the Serengeti
Travel through the Ngorongoro highlands towards the Serengeti. Treat this as a transfer day with possible wildlife viewing, not a promised full-day game drive. Stop only where authorised and arrive with time to settle into camp.
Suggested overnight: Serengeti · camp location to confirm
DAY 08A day on the Serengeti plains
Explore grasslands, kopjes and nearby watercourses with your guide. Stay with a sighting long enough to understand the behaviour, then return to camp at a pace that suits you. Resident animals provide interest beyond the moving herds.
Suggested overnight: Serengeti · camp location to confirm
DAY 09Let the wild set the pace
Keep another day in the same Serengeti area instead of spending it packing and transferring. Follow fresh observations and seasonal conditions. Photography, birdwatching and time at camp can shape the balance.
Suggested overnight: Serengeti · camp location to confirm
DAY 10Explore the Ngorongoro caldera
Plan an authorised descent to the crater floor, where wetlands and grassland create varied habitats. Your entry slot, permitted time and return route must be confirmed. Overnight in the highlands or Karatu rather than assuming unrestricted access.
Suggested overnight: Ngorongoro highlands or Karatu · property to confirm
DAY 11A final morning and onward travel
Enjoy a relaxed start before your confirmed transfer or flight. The final route depends on camp location and your onward ticket; leave sufficient connection time. Any additional overnight required will be priced separately.
Suggested overnight: No overnight proposed · onward arrangements to confirm

Before you decide.
Are these confirmed packages?
No. These are original sample routes, not an availability promise. The final proposal must identify properties, transport, permitted activities, inclusions, prices and any changes.
Can we change the route or pace?
Yes, the concept can be used as a planning starting point. A change may affect travel times, park fees, flight connections and lodging availability; all arrangements must be rechecked.
Will we see the migration or the Big Five?
No sighting can be guaranteed. Wildlife moves freely, weather influences seasonal patterns and river crossings cannot be scheduled.
How are costs confirmed?
A personalised quote is required. Travel dates, party size, room types, camp locations, flights and current fees all affect the total. No sample price is presented as a verified Serenity rate.
