01/07

Machame Gate (1,640m) to Machame Camp (2,850m)

Section 01

Drive to Machame Gate, registration, and trek through the rainforest. The path can be muddy and slippery. This is your first night sleeping on the mountain.

02/07

Machame Camp (2,850m) to Shira Cave Camp (3,810m)

Section 02

Trek out of the rainforest and onto the Shira Plateau. You will leave the glades of the rainforest and continue on an ascending path, crossing the valley along a step rocky ridge.

Shira Cave (3,810m) to Lava Tower (4,630m) to Barranco (3,976m)

Section 03

This is a key acclimatization day. We trek high to Lava Tower for lunch and then descend to Barranco Camp to sleep. This follows the 'climb high, sleep low' principle.

Barranco Camp (3,976m) to Karanga Camp (3,995m)

Section 04

Climb the famous Barranco Wall - a non-technical scramble that looks steeper than it is. Then traverse ridges and valleys to Karanga Camp.

Karanga Camp (3,995m) to Barafu Camp (4,673m)

Section 05

Short but steep trek to base camp. The landscape keeps getting more barren. Early dinner and sleep to prepare for the midnight summit push.

Barafu to Uhuru Peak (5,895m) to Mweka Camp (3,100m)

Section 06

Summit night! Wake up at 11pm, start trekking by midnight. Reach Stella Point for sunrise and push to Uhuru Peak. Descend immediately to Mweka.

Mweka Camp (3,100m) to Mweka Gate (1,640m)

Section 07

Final descent through the lush forest. Retrieve your summit certificates at the gate and say goodbye to your crew.
